Theives of The Mark
Will I have more written today? Probably but we'll see how it goes. We have to go get the kids in Algonac as they've been hanging with Grandma and Grandpa.

Back to it
And BTW: we're up to a raging 5944 words as of the night before last. I did get a chance to work some then too. Okay, coffee's done man, now we're ready to go! =)
P.S. As of this afternoon: 6759w/24p (Had to finish the last couple hundred pages of "Well of Ascension" by Brandon Sanderson. I literally stood up and cheered when Straff bought it! And let's go Sazed, damn! Amazing read as always...

On the ball as always...

It's only been out for three months now but I finally got to see Iron Man in the theater! I actually couldn't beleive it was still out there being shown but there ya go. Short and sweet version, loved it. Funny and action-packed. I really liked to see the suit coming to life and the entire journey that Stark makes throughout the film makes for some great character development. A good ride and definately one for the DVD collection this Christmas (so you know, if you were in need of ideas for me...)

Latest news from "Theives Of The Mark"
I'm not really sure if word count is important but perhaps it's a fact that publishers would want to know. I put it here basically to map some progress as Karen Miller has been doing on her blogs for Witches INC. Also this can put you at a relative page count...150,000 words/535 pages (roughly). That seems like a good goal to shoot for, eh?
Writing more today if I can...besides, I just realized that Brandon Sanderson avoids a somewhat necessary prologue by placing bits of it at the beginning of each chapter. What does this accomplish? it serves the information in tiny, digestible amounts while creating some mystery of where it's coming from without boring the redaer with "uneeded information just for the sake of background". I'm sure others do this and White Wolf has put many different things atop their chapter headings over the years; song lyrics, bible passages, poems, small related scenes, character studies...you name it. Maybe I'll try to fit in a description of the Coming of The Mark into this style.

Back from Tennessee...finally
We went to the Ripley's Aquarium and had a good time there with Sawfish and Sand Tiger sharks swimming right above our heads. Lori even got to touch a stingray while we were there. Went up into the mountains and cruised the curves which made me think that it's a nice place to visit but living there would be for the goats who are much more attuned to that environment. My son also was old enough or should I say tall enough to ride a real roller coaster for the first time. We weren't sure how he would react even though he was pumped for it. First was the "Blazin' Fury" which has been at the park since 1588. He loved it and was ready for more. The "Tennessee Tornado" is a metal coaster that goes upside down but it was shorter and less of a scary ride than the "Thunderhead". He rode them both needless to say. I think we've created a monster. Even my daughter rode the "Fury" and is hooked.
Anyway pretty much a fun time had by all. See ya in four years if not before.
By the by...While cruising the hillsides, I finished "IT". Really? Two months? Pathetic. Oddly enough, as the book has to do with forgetting your past I still feel that I've read the book before. Perhaps I'm just remembering the miniseries or that's the magic of the story. I prefer to believe the latter. ;)

More books...

I recieved "Brother..." last Christmas along with a B&N gift card. I spent the card after long and fruitless hem-hawing over exactly what to buy. But I still hadn't cracked the book open. WHY?! Well, I was hesitant to touch the book for a simple reason. I didn't want to be disappointed. After reading Odd Thomas and being absolutely spellbound, I swooned (yes, Odd help me, I actually swooned) when Forever Odd appeared on the shelves. There may have even been some dancing going on with worried customers giving the swooning fellow a wide berth. I was on another plane of existance.
I purchased it without question and devoured it in a manner of a week or so. At the completion I felt a bit disheartened by the experience. I got the feeling that Mr. Koontz was being forced to write a sequel to one of the most perfect books I've ever salivated over. I have no doubt that he wanted to peer even more into Odd's life and give us more of it but the end seemed cheap...very well writen and memorable but somehow cheap like a warped super-bounce ball that you purchase for 25 cents and the first bounce sends it over the neighbor's fence. So I was hesitant to crack open "Brother..." because the scenery seemed forced and well, it was like popping in another quarter to the ravenous supermarket machine.
Finally, I read it.
Rivaling the first volume with no questions asked and no punches pulled, "Brother Odd" is simply amazing. It felt like the old Odd Thomas was back with all of his wonderous wit and heart that we had come to love. So touching a read it was in fact, that there must have been some dust in the air as my eyes were watering near the end a couple of times. Definately a "must read."
Odd Hours is in hand now...with no hesitation.
